Volaris Announces PayPal as a Payment Method Alternative | Activations & Aliances

Volaris, the airline featuring the most attractive fares and promotions in Mexico, announced today that PayPal has now become a payment alternative for the airline, enabling customers to safely and easily purchase directly from the website.

The PayPal payment method supports making and receiving online payments without having to share banking information with counterparts. Customers interested in booking travel online through the Volaris website can resort to the PayPal platform, which safely stores their information.

With this partnership, the airline now accepts payment from over 110 million PayPal users in more than 190 markets, and opens up the possibility of payment in 25 different currencies, including the dollar and euro.

For José Calderoni, Volaris Marketing and Sales Director, this addition to the Volaris sales platform also brings about significant benefits to airline customers. “The incorporation of the new Volaris system responds to our commitment of constantly offering products and services that satisfy the needs of our customers, in this particular case, the need for online payment safety.”

“Today we announce one of the most important partnerships for PayPal Mexico,” said Federico Gómez, PayPal Mexico General Manager. “Volaris becomes the first Mexican airline introducing us as payment method and thus offering their customers a new benefit that opens doors for our more than 110 million users in different countries around the world.”

The partnership now enables users to book directly from the Volaris website and select different payment methods, including debit, credit (Visa or MasterCard) or PayPal balance. The agreement between Volaris and PayPal benefits all customers traveling to any of the 32 cities reached by the carrier, supporting security, efficiency, and speed of these transactions.

The announcement is yet another step that Volaris takes to stay ahead of the game, offering customers innovative products and services that help make traveling with the carrier a better experience, on board Mexico’s most modern fleet.

PayPal seeks the goal of bringing consumers a step closer to electronic transactions, offering the tools that increase the safety of their purchases. Currently PayPal is a payment method for leading US airlines and now adds one of the top carriers in Mexico.

Everyday, more and more people adopt online payments as an easier and safer way of handling transactions, particularly in the tourism industry, which holds the top spot in terms of unit sales in e-commerce in Mexico, a business which in 2011, amounted to sales at an estimated at 47.6 million pesos.*
